GHA Home
Once again we had planned to take TIME to ENCOURAGE and ADORN, as GHA had planned its 5th annual Ladies and Little Ladies Tea Brunch Weekend May 4 and 5th, 2012. To date we have hosted more than 1000 women, youth, and children through this one-of-a-kind "fun-d"-raising event, which annually helps us raise proceeds for Deaf families through educational and health initiatives. Unfortunately....the event this year has been cancelled. Everybody seems to be so busy, people are still, or even moreso, being hurt by the economy, gas prices, etc., and there are several conflicts that same weekend that we did not know about last year when the date was picked, including Priscilla Shirer [Dr. Tony Evans' daughter, from Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, TX, where our Show & Tell Mission Tour went last year] at 1st Baptist Orlando that same weekend, and T.D. Jakes having his national leadership conference actually at the very same hotel, same time.

It was a wonderful event last year [year 4] that everyone was talking about for weeks afterwards, but it looks like this year it was just not going to be the
bigger and better event and FUNDRAISER that we needed it to be. We ARE still going forward with the YOUNG MAN CAVE Symposiums, because of our partnership with The National Cares Mentoring Movement [call 407-448-1987 for details], and the ADULT MAN CAVE with Al Peoples and Friends, which a lot of men expressed an interest in, which is postponed until hopefully sometime later this year.

Thank you again for your interest, be in prayer as we make preparations for additional fund-raising events this year and next. For more detailed information about The Young MAN Cave Symposiums, click here.

Yes,the 2011 Show and Tell Mission Tour was a rousing success. 3 Deaf ladies were part of the team that
traveled to Dallas, Texas and parts in-between. Watch the video and join in the experience.

WORD BORN!
Jesus said to the people that believed in Him, "If you continue to obey my teaching, you are truly my followers. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." [John 8:31-32]
We are the only Christian-based organization that provides family and community support services and language learning opportunities to and for the 180,000 Deaf and their families here in Central Florida. We strive in everything we do to bring awareness to the facts, i.e., there is no unintentional learning for Deaf children, most Deaf people CANNOT read lips (speech) (contrary to popular belief), and yet the Deaf CAN succeed, given an opportunity, because with God ALL things are possible.

Take a look at this wonderful little video of Helen Keller, and some steps that Annie Sullivan took to open up the world for her:
"Blindness separates you from things; Deafness separates you from people."  - Helen Keller
